Online Safety
Online safety is taught across the school to help children use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly. Learning is carefully sequenced so that children build their understanding over time, developing the knowledge and confidence they need as their digital experiences grow.

Online safety is delivered through computing lessons, PSHE (Jigsaw), Project Evolve activities and everyday classroom practice, and is reinforced through our Acceptable Use Policy .

Early Years Foundation Stage

Children are introduced to online safety in simple, practical ways. They learn that they can say “no”, ask for help from trusted adults and recognise what personal information is. Teaching focuses on kindness, feelings and understanding that technology is part of everyday life, both online and offline.

Key Stage 1

As children begin to use technology more independently, they learn how the internet can be used to communicate and find information safely. Lessons explore how online behaviour can affect feelings, why some information should not be shared, and how to recognise and report unkind behaviour online. Children are supported to develop safe searching habits and understand the importance of simple passwords.

Lower Key Stage 2

Pupils deepen their understanding of online identity and relationships, learning how online actions can affect themselves and others. They explore online reputation, recognise persuasive or unreliable information, and consider how technology use can affect wellbeing. Children are also introduced to copyright and ownership when using digital content.

Upper Key Stage 2

As pupils prepare for greater independence, online safety focuses on managing digital footprints, evaluating online information, and understanding privacy and security. Children learn how to recognise scams, report online bullying, and challenge inappropriate content. There is also a strong emphasis on balancing screen time and maintaining healthy online habits.
