British Values

We are committed to the active promotion of the four fundamental British values through our Personal Development Curriculum and subject curricula, as part of our Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) education.

These values are:

  • Democracy

  • The rule of law

  • Individual liberty

  • Mutual respect and tolerance

“Schools should promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.”

At Templenewsam Halton Primary School, British values are embedded across school life and throughout our curriculum. Our rich, varied and balanced curriculum helps ensure that children become confident, respectful and fully rounded members of society, prepared for life in modern Britain.
