British Values

We are committed to the active promotion of the four fundamental British values through our Personal Development Curriculum and subject curricula, as part of our Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) education.

These values are:

At Templenewsam Halton Primary School, British values are embedded across school life and throughout our curriculum. Our rich, varied and balanced curriculum helps ensure that children become confident, respectful and fully rounded members of society, prepared for life in modern Britain.

Children learn why rules are important and how they help keep everyone safe and treated fairly. This includes:

• Following rules to develop order and responsibility

We support children to develop independence and confidence in making choices. This includes:

• Freedom of speech for all

• The right to make our own choices in a safe and supportive environment

Children are taught to value and respect others, regardless of differences. This includes:

• Treating others as you would like to be treated

• Respecting each other

• Working together

• Learning about different faiths and cultures

• Listening to different viewpoints

• Learning about diversity
