Friday 30th January was cold and rainy but that did not stop us going out and spending the morning planting over 70 trees as the start of our rewilding project. We had 12 children from year 3 to year 6 who braved the weather and put the work into digging planting and sorting the trees.
They have been planted by the side of Selby Road and the top corner of the field to provide some barrier between the main road and the school field. The main reason is to provide a barrier for the children from the road noise and the pollution, as well as the litter.
The rewilding project is a long-term plan, and we are really excited about these plans to completely change and improve the grounds. We have another project day over the Easter holidays to plant another 400 trees and make a garden.
A big thank you to Mrs Carrick for helping the children with their planting and for Mr Barnes who came in to see how the project was going and offer future support.
