Attendance Matters - Keep Us Informed
Posted 4th December 2025
Regular attendance is essential for your child’s learning and wellbeing. At this time of year, we understand that colds and other seasonal illnesses are common, but it’s important that children attend school whenever they are well enough.
What we ask from parents:
- Let us know every absence as soon as possible, including the reason (e.g., illness, appointment).
- If your child is unwell, please tell us about their symptoms so we can monitor patterns across the school.
When should children attend school?
- Mild cold symptoms (runny nose, slight cough): Children can usually attend school if they feel well enough.
- Fever or feeling very unwell: Keep them at home until they feel better and have been fever-free for 24 hours.
- Vomiting or diarrhoea: Stay home for 48 hours after the last episode.
- Infectious illnesses (e.g., chickenpox): Follow NHS guidance on isolation periods.

Why this matters:
- Good attendance supports learning and friendships.
- Telling us the reason for absence helps us keep everyone safe and take action if needed.
